Hating On The Internet

I just feel like ranting to you guys about something that has been really bothering me recently and that is hating/bullying on the internet. To begin with, this topic didn’t really affect me as I wasn’t as well known and used to the internet and dangers as I am now. At only 13, I know I’m not the expert, but I have experienced hate on the internet first hand and seen it happen before.

I find most of the sneer comments to be on Instagram from people hiding behind there phone or laptop screens thinking nothing of the consequences of their comments. Things as simple as saying ‘you’re stupid’ can escalate into something far worse than you could expect. I don’t see why people have the nerve to comment horrible things thinking they will get away with it. These ‘haters’ are probably the ones experiencing some sort of trouble at home so it’s important to not come down like a tonne of bricks if they make a rude or self-centered comment. Yes, you should report and block them no matter if they go to your school or if you have no clue who they are but be careful what you reply with because you could comment things back just as bad in a moment of anger. Always keep your profiles private if you feel that you will get easily offended by rude people on the internet (there’s plenty of people happy to bring others happiness down with them). I know all my profiles are open for the whole world to see like my YouTube channel, this blog and Instagram but I am prepared for nasty comments to be made and my parents have reassured me to speak to them if any hint of horrible behavior starts.

An example of nastiness that has happened to be would be when I simply posted a selfie on Instagram and some random account (privatized) who I had never seen in my life decided to write a comment saying ‘you’re an ugly bitch’. I’m a vulnerable young girl who does have a low self esteem so it was easy to break me. It slowly escalated to some worse comments which I don’t want to mention. Fortunately, their account was taken down after both many of my friends and I reported them for inappropriate comments. However, it doesn’t always go that way. There are many people who can be suicidal and you would never know by looking at their account that they have a tough background – a simple comment which could offend them deeply could cost a life.

So please, be careful on this big, deep and scary place called the Internet. It brings happiness in many ways but deep down, there are countless amounts of dangerous traps you could fall into. People who you don’t even know commenting hurtful things about you shouldn’t affect you – in fact don’t let it get to you; they don’t even know who you are so why should you care? They are just a spiteful kid in their room needing to pass on their sadness and make someone else feel their pain too so why don’t you even ask the if they would like a helping hand in feeling happier?

Sorry this blog was sort of depressing; I’ll make sure next week’s blog is fun and exciting for you all!

Maybelline Baby Lips

For a long time now, people have raved about the Maybelline ‘Baby Lips’ lip balms so I decided to test them out and write a review for the people who are unsure whether to buy some! Before you ask, yes, I have not tried them all as some collections are only sold in America and I don’t spend (or plan to spend) all my money on the same brand of lip balms!

Intense Care (original, yellow packaging)

This is one of the SPF 20 lip balms which are clear with no tint. ‘Intense Care’ is definitely not my favourite but it does have a very moisturizing finish that doesn’t last as long as I would want a lip balm to. The taste is quite nice for a lip balm only costing £2.99 – a bit like watermelon sweets. Not to fond of this one but if you want a cheap, clear lip balm that you don’t mind topping up a little more often, the ‘Intense Care’ is the one for you!

Hydrate (original, blue packaging)

Again, this is a SPF 20 style Baby Lips with no tint to the lips. In my opinion, I really don’t like this one. It seemed to ‘dry up’ after about a week of opening it meaning it wasn’t moisturizing my lips well at all.The taste is very peculiar (not that I bite chunks out of it haha); it tastes sort of chemical-like with a strong smell also. Really not impressed with this one but at £2.99, I wasn’t expecting miracles.

Pink Punch (original, pink packaging)

This lip balm is tinted to a quite bright, bubblegum pink shade. Unfortunately, this colour doesn’t suit me that well therefore I don’t tend to wear it as much. It is highly pigmented with a glossy finish which lasts a moderate amount of time which means you will have to top up but being a drugstore product, it’s expected. Overall, recommended for people who suit a bright pink otherwise avoid this particular ‘Baby Lips’.

Cherry Me (original, orange packaging)

Oh my, this one is incredible! By far my favourite lip balm of all time! As you may have guessed, it is tinted with a cherry shade but shows up slightly lighter on your lips. Thankfully, the tint aspect doesn’t take away the moisturizing factor of the lip balm – I find ‘Cherry Me’ to be the most moisturizing and soothing for chapped lips. It doesn’t have a particular taste but it’s definitely not gross. Overall, highly recommended!!

Peach Kiss (original, purple packaging)

I haven’t used this as much as I would’ve wanted to because it really hasn’t grown on me. I expected it to have a high colour pay off just like ‘Cherry Me’ but I was disappointed. Okay, it’s a shimmery nude colour but even that didn’t really show up so I don’t really feel the need to claim its ‘tinted’. The moisture rate for this one is about a 7/10 but I still think it’s an okay lip balm for only £2.99. In a nutshell, don’t expect much from it but it’s still worth the price.

Strike A Rose (electro, black packaging)

I find this to be the most pigmented out of them all with a sheen finish that lasts a longer time than the others I have. The colour pay off is pretty good as it still comes out just as bright as it looks in the packaging. But one minor complain I would have for this product would be that it comes off EVERYWHERE! So definitely don’t wear a white top with this! Even after dabbing with a tissue and applying translucent powder over the top the lip balm appeared on my glass! Apart from that, it does everything a lip balm should do and at £2.99 (what a surprise) definitely worth the price!

Coral Crave (Dr Rescue, white packaging)

From what I know (correct me if I’m wrong) this collection of ‘Baby Lips’ is meant to moisturize a lot more and care for chapped lips a lot better…? There is a definite taste and smell of medicine with this lip balm but I really don’t see a difference between the Dr Rescue and Original collections in terms of moisturizing. The colour appears to be a ‘coral’ like shade but the pay off is virtually clear with a slight shimmer. At £3.49, if you’re thinking of buying the best, in this situation the price doesn’t mean it’s better so stick to the cheaper ones for the same results (if not better).

I hope at least one person found this helpful in some way! Let me know any other products you would like me to review and I will do as many as I can! Maddie x IMG_1575[1] IMG_1570[1] IMG_1568[1] IMG_1569[1] IMG_1571[1] IMG_1572[1] IMG_1573[1] IMG_1574[1]
